If you know about the Northstar engine and  love Devilles, this is your car. This 1998 prestigious black Cadillac Deville is not only a California beauty, but it has been proactively serviced and repaired to give you many miles of elegant service. We here at cadillacheadgasketfix.com specialize in the repair of the Northstar engine and this is one of our latest repairs. Upon receiving this car there was no sign of head gasket failure, but there were rear main seal leaks. First we removed the engine (pictured). With the engine broken down we inspected all the timing components. This engine was amazingly clean on the inside. Then we did a lower crankcase reseal, oil pan manifold reseal, oil pan reseal. All the seal work was performed according to GM’s latest TSB (technical service Bulletin). Then we proceeded to handle the head gasket issue. The Northstar is a great American engine, probably the best ever built for an American sedan, but has been made notorious because of the expensive oil leaks and ridiculously expensive head gasket failure. The head gasket failure normally occurs between 75k mi.- 125k  mi. or much sooner. We sent the heads out to be cleaned and inspected. We then installed the SuperStar Stud System to address the head gasket shortcomings of this engine. The SuperStar Stud System is without a doubt in my opinion the best way to go for the Northstar engine. I have performed this repair well over 100 times and the SuperStar has not failed me yet. These engines were designed to do 300k mi. – 400k mi. and with the SuperStar we strongly feel that you can get that and more with regular maintenance! We then reinstall the engine. We also replaced the water pump, thermostat, and radiator because these items were the originals. Most importantly we replaced and/or reinforced all the upper engine gaskets too! Any Northstar this age definitely needs these gaskets addressed, especially the water pump crossover gaskets.
